Civic Clutch FAQs

Common questions about Honda clutches

What clutch for a boosted Type R?

For turbocharged or supercharged Type R builds:

  • 400-500 HP: Stage 2 Endurance handles this reliably
  • 500-600 HP: Stage 3 or Dual Disc recommended
  • 600+ HP: Triple Disc for maximum capacity

The Type R's stock clutch is adequate to about 380 HP. Beyond that, upgrading is essential.

Will a performance clutch hurt my shift feel?

Honda owners are particular about shift feel, and for good reason. Our clutches are designed to preserve the Honda character:

  • Stage 2: Virtually stock feel with more capacity
  • Stage 3: Slightly more positive engagement
  • Dual Disc: Actually lighter pedal than aggressive single disc
K-swap clutch recommendations?

K-series swaps vary widely based on chassis and power goals:

  • NA K-series (200-300 HP): Stage 2 for reliable daily use
  • Boosted K-series (300-500 HP): Stage 3 for headroom
  • Time Attack builds: Dual Disc for repeated heat cycles

Contact us with your specific swap details for personalized recommendations.

Should I upgrade the flywheel?

Flywheel choice affects engine character:

  • Lightweight flywheel: Faster revs, more responsive, slightly harder to launch
  • Stock weight: Smoother power delivery, easier daily driving
  • Multi-disc kits: Include matched flywheel for optimal performance

For street cars, keeping stock flywheel weight is often preferable. Track cars benefit from lightweight options.
